Hi Everyone,

After ten wonderful years, it is now time for us to say goodbye. We will be closing down Carl Dagg Stockholm umbrellas, and this has been a difficult and emotional decision for many reasons.

When we first started sketching our umbrella back in 2015, we saw endless possibilities. The umbrella – this beautiful, timeless accessory – had been forgotten, and we wanted to recreate it the way it was originally meant to be. A large, rustic umbrella made from the finest materials, growing more beautiful with age and patina.

The project turned out to be far more challenging than we expected. It took us about a year and a half before we were finally able to launch our 001 and Limited series in April 2017. Together with the Umbrella Factory in Dalarna, we then wrote a small piece of modern umbrella history. By building our umbrellas from scratch in Sweden, we showed that there was an alternative to mass‑produced umbrellas made in cheap materials and enormous volumes.

We look back on many highlights from these years, and almost all of them revolve around you - our customers - and the incredible feedback we have received from you. You have made this journey unforgettable, and we cannot thank you enough for your support and the inspiring conversations we have had over the years.

The journey has not been easy. It is difficult to make a product like this work financially. Competing with large manufacturers who mass‑produce in Asia, backed by resources we could never match, has been a constant challenge. The final blow came when the Umbrella Factory in Swedish Dalarna - which first opened its doors in 1928 - was forced to file for bankruptcy for the same reason we are now closing: the economics of craftsmanship at this scale simply do not hold.

We will now sell our remaining umbrellas at a significant discount. Please note that some of the umbrellas in the 001 series may have small marks or scratches on the shaft. It is important to us that you are aware of this before placing an order. We will not be handling returns on these final pieces.

Once again, thank you for everything! Together, we created a piece of umbrella history. Even though the journey became shorter than we had hoped, you made it something truly special for us.
